Gris de Koshu is Grace Wine's everyday white, made entirely from Koshu, Japan's native grape. The winery's fourth-generation owner first made it in 1999 after seeing what Pinot Gris could do in Alsace, and the name nods to the greyish-pink skin of the Koshu grape. It is fermented and kept in stainless steel, so the wine stays clean and fruit-led.
Expect white peach, pear, orange and orange peel on the nose, with a floral lift and a touch of white pepper and clove. The palate is smooth and round, with refreshing acidity and a gentle savoury umami. It was made for the dinner table and is an easy partner for delicate Japanese dishes and seafood.
